What are the library opening hours during term time?
8:00 AM – 7:30 PM Monday – Friday
12:30 PM – 5:00 PM Saturday

May I bring my bag into the library?
No bags may be brought into the library. Please use the lockers provided in the entrance hall, bringing valuables into the library with you.

How many books may I take out?
Students may take out 2 books at a time.

How long is the borrowing period?
The borrowing period is 4 days.

May I renew books?
It is not possible to renew books at present. Books must be returned to a staff member at the agreed time. This is to ensure maximum circulation of books.

Is there a fine for late return of books?
Yes. The fine for late return of books is €5 per book per day. This is strictly enforced.

May I request books from other libraries?
The library is a member of the British Library Document Supply Service. Please see Library services page for further details or talk to a member of library staff.

What are the functions of the student card?
The student card is primarily an ID card which allows you to access certain areas of King’s Inns. It also acts as a printing and photocopying credit card. Students must carry their ID cards with them at all times.

How do I photocopy/print?
Put your student card in the card reader beside the photocopier/printer before photocopying/printing as normal. There are two photocopiers and one printer located in the library, and 3 printers located in the computer room in the main building.

Where do I top up my student card?
A card credit dispenser is located outside the library reading room door and in the main building.

What online databases does the library subscribe to?
The library subscribes to the following online databases: Firstlaw, WestlawIE, WestlawUK, Justis (Justcite can be accessed through this database), Lexis Nexis Butterworths (Halsbury's Laws of England and Irish Property Law Direct can be accessed through this database). Please see the Library Guide for further information.

Are there newspapers in the library?
The library purchases the Irish Times and the (London) Times on week-days. Newspapers are located on a stand near Bay C.
