Reunion Dinner for all graduates of a year ending in ‘4’
Last Thursday, 27th November 2014, we had a reunion dinner for the graduates of King’s Inns for all years ending in a ‘4’ – 1944, 54, 64, 74, 84, 94, 2004 and 2014. The group was joined by the 1989 alumni celebrating 25th anniversary of their graduation. Among the diners on the night were two former Chief Justices – The Hon. Thomas A Finlay and The Hon. Ronan Keane.
It was a great honour to have these gentleman sitting down to dinner in the hall where their portraits hang. Other Judges present on the night included The Hon. Nial Fennelly, The Hon. Ms Justice Finlay Geoghegan, The Hon. Adrian Hardiman, The Hon. Daniel O’Keeffe, and Judge Mary Collins. The guests were addressed by the Senior Bencher, Mr Maurice Gaffney SC, who recently celebrated his 98th birthday and is still in practice in the Courts.
Mr Gaffney, who spoke ‘off the cuff’, urged the alumni present to continue to see the Inns as their “home from home” and to join us with their guests and friends on our dining nights during the law terms.
The dinner, prepared by Claire Hanley and her team, was a tribute to “Thanksgiving”, the US traditional feast day which was being celebrated that very day. The menu was Roast Pumpkin Soup, Turkey with all the trimmings and Pecan Pie.
