Job Opportunity: Legal Assistant (2nd Assistant, AST 3) at the General Court of the European Union
Judge Tamara Perišin is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of a legal assistant (2nd Assistant, AST 3) in her chambers at the General Court of the European Union, with a starting date from 1st April 2021 onwards.
Deadline for applications is Sunday, January 17 at 5 pm (Luxembourg time) or 4 pm (Irish time).
The position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic international team and contribute to the high–level analysis and development of EU law in substantive fields such as competition law, state aids, fundamental rights, citizenship, restrictive measures, international agreements, trademark, as well to the reflection on examination of procedural issues of standing before the Court of Justice of the EU, the appropriate level of judicial review, confidentiality, transparency etc.
In addition to administrative and executive tasks, the duties include legal research on a wide range of topics of EU law, follow–up and drafting of assigned cases, as well as discussion and collaboration with colleagues on other cases dealt with within the chambers and the General Court. Candidates should have a law degree, a good knowledge of EU law and excellent critical legal reasoning skills. A postgraduate degree in EU law, experience in academia or practical legal experience in the field would all be considered assets.
As the internal working language of the General Court is French, an excellent command of French is required. A very good command of English is also highly desirable.
