Open Call for the Inaugural Creative Residency by King’s Inns and Dublin City Council Culture Company

The Honorable Society of King’s Inns and Dublin City Council Culture Company invite applications from artists to spend six months living and working in the unique environment of King’s Inns, Dublin 1. 

The Creative Residency, commencing on 1st September 2019, is a new and exciting partnership between King’s Inns and Dublin City Council Culture Company. Together, we seek to sustain an artist in the creation of new work, rooted within King’s Inns and the extraordinary and historic environment of Henrietta Street, where both organisations are based. Through the residency, the selected artist will be encouraged to develop and explore the theme of art and law with reference to the King’s Inns and the residency should result in a creative response to be hosted by King’s Inns.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 10th June 2019. 

The selected artist will be supported by both organisations to develop their practice, to explore the theme of art and law, with reference to King’s Inns through collaboration with King’s Inns and Dublin City Council Culture Company, and to create a final (permanent or temporary) creative work for public presentation at the end of the residency.

The residency offers accommodation at the Gate Lodge, a stipend and additional funds for the creation of an artwork. The artist will also have the support of an Advisory Group and a network of fellow artists, creative producers, academics and legal professionals. Built into the residency is the opportunity to share practice, avail of peer learning opportunities and engage new audiences, as well as gaining unprecedented access to King’s Inns venue and resources, including the library, park, staff and students.

Artists based in Ireland, with a proven track record of working creatively are eligible, and the residency is open to any medium (architecture, circus, crafts, dance, digital media, film, movement, music, spectacle, theatre, writing, visual art, as well as multi–disciplinary practice and design of all kinds).
