Member Community

King’s Inns is working on developing a member community with the help of our new Member Relations Officer, Diane Sutton. More information about membership will be published here in the first half of 2020. 

At this time, students and graduates of the Degree of Barrister–at–Law can become subscribing members of King’s Inns. 

Category of Membership 

Option 1 – Current BL Student 

  • You are automatically a subscribing member. 

Option 2 – BL Graduate: Law Library member

  • Entered on the Roll of Practising Barristers (maintained by the LSRA).
  • You are automatically a subscribing member, as a subvention to the Inns is included in your fees to the Bar Council. 

Option 3 – BL Graduate: Non Law Library member

  • Entered on the Roll of Practising Barristers (maintained by the LSRA).

Option 4 – BL Graduate: Non–practicing 

Option 5 – BL Graduate: Retired 


Membership includes

  • Right to dine at King’s Inns;
  • Right to rent a parking space;
  • Access to Library*;
  • Discount on use of the building as a venue;
  • Discount on CPD (Continuing Professional Development) courses such as Data Protection Law, Social Media & Media Law, Public Procurement Law, Law & Education;
  • Member social events, talks and conferences;
  • Right to receive notice of and attend the AGM.

* Current students hold library cards – all other members should sign the attendance book on arrival. Current registered students and Benchers are entitled to borrow books from the Library only. If you wish to photocopy/print using the Library’s smart card, there is a discounted rate available for members at a cost of 12 cent per page. We hold academic licences for all our electronic databases which only entitle current registered students to access them; they are not accessible by any other category of user.
