Job Opportunity: Experienced Translator (Grade III) with The Public Appointments Service (PAS)

GA: Is mian leis an tSeirbhís um Cheapacháin Phoiblí (SCP) aistritheoir a bhfuil taithí aige/aici a cheapadh lena chinntiú go gcomhlíonfar a ngealltanais don phobal mar atá leagtha amach in Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla 2003. Beidh an té a cheapfar freagrach as téacsanna éagsúla earcaíochta agus roghnaithe, comhfhreagras le hiarrthóirí agus le páirtithe eile a bhíonn i dteagmháil leis an SCP trí Ghaeilge, Tuarascálacha Bliantúla agus foilseacháin oifigiúla eile a aistriú go Gaeilge agus uaireanta go Béarla. Chomh maith leis sin beidh sé/sí páirteach i gcumas Gaeilge na n–iarrthóirí a mheas.

Ní mór d’iarrthóirí na cáilíochtaí seo a bheith acu:

  • Sáreolas ar an nGaeilge agus ar an mBéarla, idir labhartha agus scríofa;
  • Taithí ar aistriúchán ó Ghaeilge go Béarla agus ó Bhéarla go Gaeilge;
  • A bheith in ann oibriú faoi bhrú chun spriocanna diana a bhaint amach;
  • Cáilíocht aitheanta Leibhéal 7 ar a laghad ar Chreat Náisiúnta na gCáilíochtaí nó a coibhéis.

EN: The Public Appointments Service (PAS) is seeking to recruit an experienced translator to ensure that they are meeting their commitments to the public as set out in The Official Language Act 2003. The successful candidate will be responsible for the translation into Irish, and occasionally into English, of various recruitment and selection related texts, correspondence with candidates and other parties who correspond with PAS through Irish, Annual Reports and other official publications. S/he will also be expected to participate in the assessment of candidates’ Irish language skills. 

Candidates must:

  • possess and be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge of Irish and English, both oral and written;
  • have experience in translating from Irish to English and from English to Irish;
  • have the ability to work under pressure to meet demanding deadlines;
  • hold a relevant qualification of at least Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent.
