As always, James Gandon’s decoration is elegant and in moderation. For the most part, he avoided ornamentation and relied on the decorative effects achieved by light and shadow. Stephen Woulfe Flanagan has taken Gandon’s thinking to heart. In this lovely picture, not only does he display masterful draughtsmanship but he also captures the magnificence of the architecture of the triumphal bridge over the public passage. The crowning glory is, of course, the domed columnar cupola. Stephen Woulfe Flanagan lives in Dublin and is an architect with Scott Tallon Walker. He exhibits at the Royal Hibernian Academy. Print dimensions: 21 inches by 32 inches.
