Culture Night 2025 will take place on Friday, September 19. King’s Inns will open the doors of our Main Building for free guided tours of the great Georgian building. Details for Culture Night 2025 to be confirmed this summer.
Oíche Chultúir / Culture Night is a national moment, celebrating all that makes up the richness and diversity of Culture in Ireland today, connecting people to cultural activities locally and nationally and aims to open up pathways to ongoing engagement.
Based between Henrietta Street and Constitution Hill in Dublin 7, The Honorable Society of King’s Inns is an independent educational institution renowned for professional legal education and training. Established in 1541, King’s Inns is also Ireland’s Oldest School of Law and one of Ireland’s significant historical environments.
King’s Inns is a key example of Georgian architectural heritage, featuring in films and television series like Penny Dreadful, Ripper Street, and Ordinary Decent Criminal.
How to book a tour
Come visit and take a guided tour of their James Gandon designed Dining Hall, completed in 1806. Please note as King’s Inns is a period building, unfortunately it is not fully wheelchair accessible.
Tours will take place between 4pm to 8pm. Please book your spot below through Eventbrite. Each tour will take approximately 30 minutes. Visitors should register in the entrance hall of the main Dining Hall building in the King’s Inns Park 10 minutes before their tour is scheduled to begin.
Photographs will be allowed. No recordings permitted.

The tour will be led by the Archives Team who will provide an introduction to how to search our collections, and show some of the famous signatures and places contained within our records. It will also incorporate a tour of the beautiful Registry of Deeds building, including a visit to our vault, before climbing our cantilever stairs to the Public Room, with its beautiful pitch pine shelves (designed c.1829) and original parquet floors. The tour will finish on the second floor Reading Room which has lovely views of Dublin city.

Come and listen to a short illustrated talk on all things uilleann piping in their dedicated archive and library. Head downstairs to hear live uilleann piping performances from some of Ireland’s young and established leading players on this uniquely Irish musical instrument.

The historical Broadstone building operated as the headquarters of the Midland & Great Western Railway from 1847 and 1937. Built between 1841 and 1850, and known as the ‘Director’s House’, the building was designed by John Skipton Mulvaney and sat in front of a train shed offering rail access to points across the west of Ireland.
